The Players

Adam Braunschweig

A Massachusetts man, Adam grew up in Holyoke and later in Boston while attending Berklee College of Music. He studied jazz and classical music by day and traditional Irish and American folk music by night.  After completing a degree in ethnomusicology from the University of Limerick’s Irish World Academy of Music and Dance, he moved to Kansas City to perform, write, and teach music.

His songwriting has been heavily influenced by the characters and themes found in folk music on both sides of the Atlantic. Recently, his song "Lull" won second place in an American Songwriter Magazine lyric competition (Feb-April 2011)

Chris Carr

Already having nearly twelve years of classical training and experience behind him, Chris found a new passion when he discovered Irish music while living in Seattle in the mid-‘90’s.  Since then he has immersed himself in traditional music on simple-system flutes and whistles and laying down rhythms on his bodhran. Creating characteristic sounds on both!

He is also one of the blessed—some would say cursed—people with perfect pitch!

Keith Van Winkle

Keith has been immersed in traditional music for over 25 years playing fiddle, flute, whistles, mandolin, and harmonica. Keith has been a member (or founding member) of several Kansas City traditional groups including Talisman, Cowtown Ceihlie Band, Scartaglen, Newgrange and Gabriel's Gate.

Keith has also composed, performed, and toured with the Missouri Repertory Theatre, the City in Motion Dance Theatre, the Unicorn Theatre, and the Great Lakes Shakespeare Festival of Cleveland, Ohio, and worked as a session musician for commercial and singer-songwriters' live and studio projects.
